Hi my name is Matt Slafkovsky, I'm the owner and founder of Barebones Athletics and I’m excited to share my transformation journey with you. Whether you’re just starting out, looking to lose weight, or aiming to build muscle, I hope my story can inspire and motivate you on your own path.
Straight out of high school, I weighed about 130 pounds. I was the skinny guy, unsure of how to change my physique and lacking the confidence that comes with strength. I remember looking in the mirror and wondering if I could ever be anything other than skinny. It felt like an impossible dream to gain weight and build muscle, but I knew I had to try.
The turning point came when I realized that change wouldn’t happen unless I made a serious commitment. I started researching workout routines, nutrition plans, and the science behind muscle growth. The more I learned, the more determined I became. I set a goal to transform my body, not just for aesthetics, but for the strength and confidence that comes with it.
Over the years, I started seeing significant changes. My weight increased from 130 pounds to 165 pounds, and I gained a ton of muscle. It was really hard because I played soccer competitively but I kept at it and stayed consistent. Each milestone, whether it was lifting heavier weights, seeing new muscle definition, or even running faster, was a victory. These moments of progress kept me motivated and reminded me that consistency and hard work pay off.
My journey from skinny to strong inspired me to create Barebones Athletics. Our mission is to recognize that everyone’s athletic journey starts somewhere.
